About DiabetesBites
Recipes for people living with diabetes, with the numbers you need to plan a meal.
Why we exist
For many people living with diabetes, counting carbohydrates is part of every meal. Most recipes don't say how many carbs are in a serving, or give a number you can't trace back to anything. DiabetesBites publishes recipes where every serving shows its carbohydrates, fiber, protein, fat and sodium, so the people who cook them, and the people they cook for, can plan with real numbers.
What you'll find here
63 recipes, from weeknight dinners to holiday baking, each with a step-by-step cooking mode and its serving shown on the same 9-inch plate. A carb table of 302 foods with carbs per typical portion and per 100 g. And short guides on using a recipe and reading the nutrition panel.
How we work
Every number is calculated from USDA FoodData Central, from the gram weight of each ingredient, and never typed by hand: how we calculate nutrition. Recipes are drafted with the help of AI and read by an editor before they go live. Each recipe says whether it has been cooked in our kitchen, and the ones that haven't been, and carry more risk, are checked against published recipes and research, with their sources on the page. Food images are AI-generated illustrations. How we make our recipes.
What we don't do
We don't give medical advice. We don't tell anyone what to eat or label foods as good or bad, and we don't give medication or insulin doses: those decisions belong to you and your healthcare team. Our recipes haven't been reviewed by a dietitian or a diabetes educator yet; when one is, the recipe will name them and the date. Medical disclaimer.
